Information about the SYKO group of companies
The SYKO Group’s area of expertise is power electronics for mobile applications, on land, at sea, and in the air. The sole proprietorship SYKO Reinhard Kalfhaus was founded in 1973 by Reinhard Kalfhaus, a graduate engineer, and renamed SYKO Gesellschaft für Forschung und Entwicklung GmbH & Co. KG (administration, research, and development) in December 2005. SYKO Gesellschaft für Leistungselektronik mbH (production and sales) was established in 1988.
The daughters Birgit Tunk and Elke Fliedner each have a 20% share in the company, and Ms. Birgit Tunk has taken over responsibility for project management and materials management.
Currently, approximately 80 employees work at the Mainhausen site and the annual turnover is approximately 7.7 million euros. From the very beginning, the company’s focus has been on the development and production of power electronics. Know-how advantage and quality help the company achieve high and healthy growth, and even recessionary economic phases are weathered successfully.
After a major fire destroyed the old company headquarters down to its foundations in the autumn of 1989, the current modern office and production building with approximately 2600 m² of usable space was occupied in July 1990. In December 2004, the expansion continued with the relocation and expansion of the technology departments (research/development, testing field, service) into the newest building extension of 700m².
Today, SYKO offers a comprehensive product range of switching regulators, regenerators, DC/DC converters, system power supplies, power supplies, 1Ph/3Ph sine wave inverters, rotary converters, frequency converters and battery chargers for power outputs up to >6 KW and supply voltages up to >5 KV as standard and customer-specific components that stand out from the usual market standard due to their performance characteristics.
Extremely wide input voltage and temperature ranges, good radio interference suppression, multiple outputs without cross-functional dependency and high mechanical load capacity are easily achievable with the carefully developed and patented circuit topologies. Relevant standards such as EN 60950, EN 50155/121, EN 55022/11, EN 61000, RIA 12, DIN ISO 7637, VG, Stanag, GL, DO, MIL are complied with.
As a result of the European single market, distributors have established themselves in neighboring countries who exclusively sell SYKO products. Sales in Germany are coordinated directly from Mainhausen, and close contact with the customer is always maintained through technical support. SYKO has thus adapted its sales strategy to the special requests of the market and modifies specific requirements into standard products at short notice.
Due to standardized circuit topologies, special developments and customer-specific modifications can be treated like standard technologies. In most cases, a fully functional series prototype can be delivered within 12-16 weeks (including layout creation, initial sample inspection and preparation for series production). SYKO now has one of the most diverse power supply programs, adapted to the standards requirements.
